The way a person is grieving will depend on so many things which include the type of loss suffered, your beliefs, religion, upbringing, your relationship, age and your mental and physical health. Different individuals have their defense mechanisms in such wherein most of the time, helplessness and anxiety come first. Yet another common feeling felt is anger while sadness comes next.

As a matter of fact, all these feelings are part of a health grieving. Knowing that they are common helps them appear normal and it is important to know that it’ll pass anytime soon at the same time. Believe it or not, there are those who need more time to heal and recover compared to others that they even need to visit a therapist or a counselor. Eventually, you’ll come to terms with the loss and that intense feeling will finally subside.

There is no easy fix when someone is grieving, something that you need to know. You may feel affected every single day for about a year to a year and a half for major loss. But after this time, your grief begins to get less and less. Believe it or not, there are practical things that can be done to help you get through this time of loss or bereavement like for example.

Number 2. Let yourself to feel the sadness – you might not believe it but accepting pain and sadness quickens the grieving process which is the same reason to why many counselors and therapists are suggesting this to their patients.

Number 3. Keep up with your routine – doing your usual routine prior to such occasion can help a lot in moving on faster and recovering yourself. These can be just about anything like working out, walking your dog and so forth.

Number 4. Get some sleep – emotional strain is enough to make you tired actually however, if you have trouble sleeping, then it is wise to see your counselor.

Number 5. Take a healthy diet – having a well balanced and healthy diet can actually help you deal with grief. This is also like doing two things at once because you are not just moving on from your grief but also, you are getting a well balanced and healthy body due to your diet.

Number 6. Avoid things that are numbing the pain – like what is said earlier, letting yourself to become vulnerable of the pain and sadness is a healthy part of grieving process. Now, if you will drink, party etc. to mask the pain you feel, then you’ll only feel worse as soon as the numbness begins to wear off.
